Things to do

On the Water

Key West makes more sense once you get off the island for a few hours. The question is whether you want to swim, sail, explore shallow backcountry, fish or move fast.

Find your kind of outing.

  • You do not need to book every watersport available.
  • Pick one that gives you a version of Key West you cannot get on land.
  • Choose snorkeling if the reef is the priority.
  • Choose a dolphin or backcountry trip if wildlife and natural habitat interest you more than speed.
  • Choose a jet ski tour if the ride itself is the attraction.
  • Choose parasailing for a shorter activity and aerial view.
  • Choose fishing if you want the day built around the water rather than simply sightseeing from it.
  • And if none of those sound appealing, a simple sail may be enough.
  • Conditions matter across every category. Wind, waves, visibility and wildlife can change the day, so good operators adapt rather than pretending the water follows a fixed itinerary.
