Check eligibility before getting attached to a property
Some smaller Key West inns limit younger guests. Do that check first, before comparing photographs or planning an itinerary around the address. Ask about the age of every child in your group and the property’s current room-occupancy rules. A hotel that welcomes children can still have a room configuration that is awkward for your family.
Make bedtime and downtime part of the plan
Separate bedrooms, a door between sleeping spaces or a suitable crib arrangement may matter more than a long amenity list. Confirm those details directly. Beachside’s larger suites are one type of option to compare, but not every room there is a suite with a kitchen. Connecting rooms at a hotel are another possibility; ask whether they are confirmed or merely requested. Do not let an uncertain arrangement become the foundation of the trip.
Choose the base for repeat journeys
A central stay can make a midday break easier when your activities are nearby. A New Town hotel may offer facilities that work better for time on the property but requires a transport plan for historic sights. DoubleTree Grand Key lists family-oriented facilities and a zero-entry pool, which are useful facts to investigate rather than promises that every child will enjoy the stay. Check supervision needs and current access with the hotel.
Look beyond the word family-friendly
Ask about stairs, elevators, stroller access, shaded rest areas, food options and luggage storage. Check how your group will travel with child restraints and equipment; ask the transport provider rather than assuming every ride can accommodate them. If you plan boat activities, confirm age, swimming and supervision requirements for each trip separately. Accommodation suitability does not establish activity suitability.
Keep the itinerary manageable
Choose one main outing and leave room for food and downtime. A slightly less central property may work if you plan fewer trips; a central room may be worth more if you expect frequent breaks. Compare the total room-and-transport cost, then use the family activity guidance to select outings that fit the youngest traveler’s pace.
